The estranged wife of “Glee” star Jane Lynch is seeking a sizable chunk of spousal support from the television star. The request came after Lynch filed divorce documents in July 2013. California currently has jurisdiction of the divorce case.
Lynch’s wife Lara Embry says that the woman’s income, investments and assets went up significantly due to her acting success. She desires to maintain the lifestyle that she was accustomed to during the couple’s marriage. The couple was married for three years. The documents that Lynch filed in July were to terminate the jurisdiction of the court to award her wife spousal support. Embry is requesting nearly $100,000 in spousal support each month.
Individuals who are going through a high asset divorce often encounter several divorce legal issues. They may have disagreements regarding property division, especially when one spouse has a much higher income than the other. They may also have disputes regarding spousal support, alimony or child support. Additionally, high asset divorces may involve complicated prenuptial agreements that were made to protect the wealth of one or both spouses before the marriage. However, certain issues may arise that call the prenuptial agreement into question, such as whether the disfavored spouse had competent legal representation or entered into the agreement under duress.
A family law attorney may help the spouses resolve disputes, such as disagreements regarding money, property, child custody, visitation plans or parental relocation. Additionally, if something occurs after the divorce, such as a dramatic increase or decrease in one or both of the spouses’ income, a family law attorney may be able to help the spouse with post-divorce modifications. An agreement modification may be possible without the need to return to court.
