It seems like Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore separated a long time ago, but their divorce has not quite been finalized. The former California couple may be ready to finalize their divorce and agree to a property and asset settlement.
The former California couple’s divorce settlement has been relatively low key, but recently some of the terms of the divorce settlement have made their way into the news. It was recently reported that as part of the divorce settlement, Demi Moore gave Ashton Kutcher a residential property that has an estimated value of $12 million.
It can be common for a divorce settlement to be negotiated in an attempt to give each spouse an equal share of the assets. In the case of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, each spouse individually has roughly the same amount of assets. It was reported that the former couple had a net worth of $290 million. The total net worth was accumulated through Demi Moore’s $150 million and Ashton Kutcher’s $140 million.
There are rumors that the former couple’s divorce settlement may have been controlled by a prenuptial agreement. A common element in some prenuptial agreements is a cheating clause. A cheating clause in a prenuptial agreement can dictate the allocation of marital assets upon the proof of infidelity of one or even both of the spouses.
Ashton Kutcher has relocated from California to New York since the couple separated. It is unclear whether the move was done prior to or after the designated date of separation or whether the couple owns property in multiple jurisdictions — as most ultra-wealthy individuals do.
